Shalby Jean Edwards

Shalby "Jeannie" Jean Edwards, 89, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

Jeannie was born in Bristol, Tennessee, and raised in Johnson City. She spent most of her life as a resident of Bradenton, Florida, before moving back to Tennessee in recent years. She was an advocate for animals and loved them dearly. Jeannie was the kindest person you would ever meet. She had a wonderful sense of humor and would always brighten your day. Her laugh and smile were contagious. Jeannie was the best mother and grandmother anyone could ask for.

Jeannie was preceded in passing by her parents, Loudy and Alma Leonard; sisters, Mary Campbell, Ruth Black, and Shirley Ann Leonard.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Teresa Rutherford; grandson, Matthew Rutherford; and many nieces and nephews.
