Shirley Jean McClellan, 89, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
Shirley was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose kindness and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. She was a Christian of the Baptist faith and lived her life with a strong love for God and family. Shirley was known for her warm smile, her laughter, and her ability to bring light into any room. She found joy in working in her garden, searching for treasures at yard sales, and especially in the companionship of the many cats and dogs she loved throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle McConnell Ball and Guy Ball; her beloved husband, Elmer Eugene McClellan Jr.; her son, Terry James McClellan; granddaughters, Jasmine Nicole McClellan and Ashley Marie McClellan Crawford; special nephews, Ricky Ball and Scott Ball; sisters, Carol Summey, Hazel McConnell, Frankie Taylor Eads, and Helen Gebbie Nuckles; and brothers, Delmar O. "Bud" Ball, Doyle "Jingo" Ball, Willard "Sonny" Gilbert Ball, and Allen "Poss" Ball.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Lisa Renee "Sissy" McClellan; sons, Phillip Anthony "Tony" McClellan and Michael Joey "Jody" McClellan; special nephew, Charles McClellan; grandsons, Michael Todd McClellan and Tony Lynn McClellan; granddaughters, Jacklyn Nicole McClellan and Tosha Taylor Atherton; along with several great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Paulette Powers and Norma Byrd for the loving care they gave Shirley, becoming like sisters to her. A special thank you is also extended to her dear friend Ila Beard for her comfort and companionship during difficult days, and to Ballad Hospice for their compassion and exceptional care.
Family and friends are invited to Trinity Memorial Centers on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with the funeral service beginning at 7:00 PM. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Mountain Home National Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
Pallbearers will be Tony Lynn McClellan, Charles Ball, Jeff Summey, David Taylor, Tony McClellan, and Jody McClellan.
The service will be officiated by Brian McClellan, with special singing by Benny Jones.
