Stanley Wayne Godsey

Stanley Wayne Godsey, 71, of Gate City, Virginia, passed away on June 13, 2026. Born November 16th, 1954, Stan was a lifelong resident of Southwest Virginia and a proud member of the Gate City community. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edwin Godsey and Betty Wayne Godsey of Weber City, Virginia.

Stan is survived by his loving wife, Gina Whaley of Yuma, VA; his daughter, Sally Wade of Charleston, South Carolina; his son, Wesley Godsey (Amanda Paul) of Gate City, Virginia; and his four cherished grandchildren, Gracie Bass, Katie Brown, Luke Browning, and Liam Browning, all of Charleston, South Carolina. He is also survived by his siblings, Diana Cole, Barbara Sue Moore, Tommy Godsey, and William "Otto" Godsey, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A 1974 graduate of Gate City High School, Stan built a successful career as the owner of A&G Heating and Cooling. Through his business, he earned the respect and admiration of countless customers and community members, not only for his hard work and dedication but also for the kindness and integrity he demonstrated in every interaction.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Stanley felt most at home in the outdoors. Whether he was casting a line, spending time in a deer stand, or sharing stories of his latest adventure, he cherished every opportunity to enjoy nature. His love for hunting and fishing brought him peace, happiness, and many treasured memories with family and friends.

Above all else, Stan was a strong Christian man whose faith guided his life. He loved his family deeply and treasured the relationships he built throughout his life. Known for his warm heart, generous spirit, and unforgettable sense of humor, Stan had a remarkable ability to make people smile. Whether sharing a story, lending a helping hand, or simply offering words of encouragement, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Stan's legacy is one of faith, love, laughter, and service to others. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he loved so dearly, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Trinity Memorial Centers, 1221 Stewball Circle, Kingsport, Tennessee 37660. The family will receive friends from 12pm until the service begins at 2pm.
