Steve Allen Candler, 64, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026.

A lifelong resident of Kingsport, Steve was a proud graduate of Sullivan West High School, Class of 1980. During his school years, he distinguished himself as an outstanding athlete, earning recognition as Baseball Player of the Year in the state of Tennessee and contributing to a State Championship team. Following high school, he answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Army in 1983, and was a proud veteran.

He attended Sullivan Baptist Church and built many lasting friendships throughout his life, including over 25 years as a dedicated member of Moose Lodge #972. Known for his gentle and loving nature, Steve also had a playful side, he loved to cut up, keeping things short, sweet, and always to the point. In his free time, he found joy in fishing, golfing, and sharing his musical talents, often playing guitar and singing for those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Dorothy Candler; siblings, Pam and Billy Candler, Tommy Hulse, and Sue Carter; and nephews, Skip Carter and Chad Carter.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Dustin Candler (Tiffany); granddaughters, Raigan and Adia Candler; brother, Tim Candler; siblings, Jim Hulse and Vicki Shanks (Gary); nieces and nephews, Jordan Candler, Will Candler, Blake Candler, Jamie Hulse, Julie Stinnett, Chris Sturgill, Trevor Shanks, Brad Shanks, Drew Shanks, Tara McMurray, Tracey Harris, Rick Carter, and Todd Carter; special friends, Donna Davidson and Rhonda Freeman; along with several cousins and many friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
