Vernon Jeffery Skelton

Vernon (Jeff) Jeffery Skelton, age 64, of Kingsport TN, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025. He was born May 12, 1960 in Kingsport, Tennessee & grew up in Church Hill, Tennessee. Jeff had a career as a Scaffolding Supervisor at Eastman with A&L Construction and worked other various construction jobs.

Jeff enjoyed fishing, billiards, and playing cards in his free time. He was a free spirit, a spontaneous traveler, and a storyteller who loved to make people laugh. Jeff had a wild personality and a true sense of adventure that will be dearly missed.

Jeff is preceded by his parents, Andrew Jackson Skelton and Reda Verne Hann Skelton; and his sister, Debbie Skelton.

Jeff is survived by his children, Rhonda Trent, Reda Carrier, Andrew Skelton, Daniel Skelton and Sarah Skelton; his brother, Greg Skelton; his sisters, Susie Malone and Becky Silas; his aunt, Patsy Gibson; and his grandchildren Sarah, Brooks, and Elijah Trent; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will have a gathering after the service at 510 Old Village Court, Church Hill, Tennessee 37642.

"When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You must not tie yourself to me with tears; be happy that I have had so many years. I gave you my love, you can only guess, how much you gave me in happiness. I thank you for the love you have shown, but now it is time I traveled on alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on. So if you need me, call and I will come, though you can't see or touch me, I'll be there. And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear, all my love around you soft and clear. Then, when you must come this way alone, I will greet you with a smile and welcome you home."
