Wanda Jean Bare

Wanda Jean Bare, 88, of Watauga, TN, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Wanda was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on January 10th, 1938. She was married to Burl Bare Sr. They lived in Flint, Michigan, until 1989. He retired and they moved to his home state of Tennessee, where she has lived ever since. Wanda was a homemaker who loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She was an avid reader.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Burl Dean Bare Sr.; father, George Nichols; mother, Esther Nichols; brothers, George Nichols, Bob Nichols, and Sam Nichols; and sisters, Katherine Nelson and Nadine Cross.

Wanda is survived by her son, Burl Bare Jr.; daughters, Terry Saunders (Shady Smith Jr.) and Laura Bare; grandchildren, Tiffany Saunders, Shady Smith, Bria Bare, Brandi Bare, and Elexa Duncan; great-grandchildren, Keyan Bare, Braydin Bare, Zaidyn Bare, and Ava Bare; as well as special friends, Betty and Ron St. John.

A graveside service will be announced.
