William Mack Gilliam, 87, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
Mack was born on June 2, 1938, to the late Charlie Haburn Gilliam and Mildred Louise Bowen Gilliam. A man of the Apostolic Faith, Mack lived his life grounded in strong beliefs, a love for his family, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
He was a man who truly enjoyed the outdoors and a life well-lived. Mack found happiness riding fast horses, driving fast cars, hunting, and trading just about anything. He also loved flat footing and never passed up a chance to enjoy good music and fellowship. Known for his spirited personality and hardworking nature, Mack left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Above all, he loved his family. Mack is survived by his three sons, Ricky Gilliam and wife Kathy of Blountville, Tennessee; Junior Gilliam and wife Lisa of Kingsport, Tennessee; and Allen Faulk and wife Jennifer of Blountville, Tennessee. He is also survived by his two sisters, Shirley Ruth Waycaster of Johnson City, Tennessee, and JoAnn Compton of Kingsport, Tennessee; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to cherish his memory.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann Brewer Gilliam; his daughter, Debbie Shefa of Georgia; and several brothers and sisters.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kathy Gilliam for the love and care she gave to Mack during his later years. They also wish to express their sincere gratitude to his caregivers at American Housing, especially Ashley and Alice, and to the nurses at Amedisys Home Health Care, especially Tori, for their compassion and dedication.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Services will be officiated by Pastor Johnathan Lovelace and Jason McCracken, with special music provided by Ronnie and Kim Absher.
