William Phillip Yezek IV, affectionately known to friends and family as "Chip," passed away on June 30, 2026, at Holston Valley Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Chip was born on September 25, 1969, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to William P. Yezek III and Toni Gail Yezek (née Elder).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Toni; his paternal grandparents, William Yezek Jr. and Eleanor Yezek (née Sikora); and his maternal grandparents, Harold Elder and Irene Elder (née Monks).
Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Douglas "Doug" Yezek; his beloved nephew and niece, Will and Kitty Yezek; his chosen niece, Elizabeth Roberts, who lovingly knew him as "Uncle Chip"; and many friends, chosen family, and coworkers whose lives he touched over the years.
Chip spent his formative years in Ellsworth, Pennsylvania before moving to the Bristol, Virginia/Tennessee area where he spent the majority of his life, with a brief and interesting chapter in Chicago.
An avid reader, Chip had a vast knowledge of Roman history and American and Vietnam military history, subjects he eagerly shared through detailed stories. If he started with, "Okay, look...," you knew you were in for a long story. His sharp wit, strong opinions, and distinctive personality left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
In accordance with his wishes, Chip will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
The family extends its appreciation to the physicians, nurses, and caregivers at Holston Valley Medical Center and Ridgecrest Manor who provided compassionate care during Chip's illness, as well as the many friends and loved ones who offered their support throughout his life.
